With the emergence of controversies surrounding tech companies and users’ data privacy, one of the most common questions we get from prospective users is: “How safe is my information with you?”
We can assure you that the privacy and security of our users’ personal information is at the top of our agenda. Here is how we fulfill this promise of data privacy and security to you:
If you’ve ever had to gather paper documents for any application, you will know the pain of not being able to find an important document. Not only are paper records susceptible to physical damage and theft, but it can also take a lot of time to find lost or misplaced documents. Storing your personal profile electronically with Naborly saves you time and hassle. The best part is you won’t have to re-input your information each time you apply for a rental property; all you need to do is log in to your account and your information will be there. With Naborly, all of your personal data is safely stored in our electronic database.
Our bank-level security infrastructure ensures that any information entrusted to Naborly is only accessible to authenticated, credentialed recipients. Naborly has a strict verification and credentialing process to ensure that no one outside of the company can access any user’s private and sensitive information. Both landlords and tenants must be successfully identified and credentialed by Naborly according to statutory requirements and third-party verification measures before any information can be shared.
We take Data Protection and Compliance extremely seriously to ensure that Naborly is fully compliant with all applicable provincial, federal, and state-wide laws in both Canada and the United States. Our intelligence system is audited to meet and exceed Fair Housing and Fair Credit Reporting Act Compliance and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, and we have a dedicated legal department to ensure that our Application is compliant across all of the states and provinces in which we operate. For instance, our Application is designed to enable any questions in our application that don’t comply with tenant-landlord provincial legislation, to either be optional or removed altogether.
Unlike other data-selling tech companies, we at Naborly do not make money by selling our users’ personal information to third-party companies. In fact, we offer a completely free service. We make money by offering accessory products to landlords and tenants, such as renter’s insurance.
As a third party-service provider ourselves, we understand and value the importance of obtaining explicit consent from our users. All tenants must provide explicit consent and agree to our terms of conditions before they can share any information with us. This is done through reading, signing, and submitting the Naborly Application. We never share information without our users’ explicit consent, and we cannot access an individual’s personal and/or credit information unless they have given this to us.
Applications are automatically archived and deleted from a Landlord’s dashboard after 30 days from its generation. We believe that users’ information is no longer considered relevant or up-to-date past this point.
